[nfbcs] secureCRT scripts for jaws 13

I'm talking about passwords you type in after you log into the remote
server. For example, if you use scp, sudo or the mysql client after you
have logged in. When you use scp, sudo, mysql, and a lot of other programs,
you have to type in another password. If jaws is not echoing your password
keystrokes when you do that, , I'd be very much surprised. Although you can
turn it off fairly easily its just a pain in the bum. I am constantly doing
things in an ssh session that require me to enter the root password or the
database password or some other password and I have to turn off key echo
each time.

Somehow, nvda handles this correctly in a console window. So an openSsh
window behaves correctly in nvda. I'd like jaws to behave the sameway. To be
fair, nvda behaves the same way in secureCrt as jaws does. It does what I
want only in console windows. IMO, those nvda guys are pretty damn smart.

Hello John,

I know it is no comfort to you, but, except for the color issue, I do not
have those problems.

I have secureCRT set to ssh. I am logging into a Red Hat Linux 5.3 system.
If I do not want to hear the screen response, when typing, I have the insert
s key set to highlighted.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit addition.

My password fields only show stars when I type into them, and JAWS says
asterisk during the password entry.

I wonder if after you type the letter, if it takes time before the character
actually appears. Perhaps a sighted person could check this out.
I think I am emulating a vt100 screen.

Well, it sort of just works. Lots of problems with it though.. Actually,
after looking at the scripts on the Vandyke web site, I see they don't fix
the problems I am having anyway. But if they didwork, it appears they let
you scroll up and down a line at a time with the jaws cursor. That would be
nice. But the problems I was hoping to fix are:

1. No speech with color schemes other than monochrom.
2. Typed characters are spoken twice.
3. Echos passwords as you type them in.

I suspect the script I posted for openssh wil also fix the double key echo
with secureCRT. That problem with the color schemes has been around for
about 100 years. I have been using openssh instead of securecrt for a long
time and I remember it from way back when. I thought you could make it work
by fiddling with the fonts/sizes but no joy so far.

There is probably some way to fix the problem with it echoing your password
as you type. You can press jaws+2 three times to turn off key echo but it's
a pain to have to do that every time. There is probably some way in a jaws
script to fix it. If the cursor isn't moving as you type, don't do the key
echo.

If you use a terminal emulator a lot, like I do, you have to type in a lot
of passwords. There's a password for sudo and for loading an sql command
processor. So I'd rather not have to press jaws+2 three times before each
time I type in a password.

Folks,

You do not need any scripts with securCRT. It just works.

It looks as if the jaws scripts for secureCRT on the Vandyke web site don't
work with jaws 13. Or more likely, they don't work with Windows 7 because
the instructions for installing them give directory names that do not exist
in Win7. Anybody know if there are newer scripts or more accurate
installation instructions?
