[nfbcs] Matlab accessibility problem

The version of Java that I have installed is version 1.7.0_17, but Matlab has its own version of Java which is 1.6. I found some instructions that said I may have to manually install the version of java access bridge that works with version 1.6. Is this necessary? If it is, do I copy the files into the Java folders within Matlab?
Thanks,
Kevin

C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a\bin;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin
It points to the directory, not the file.

I'm using windows 7 64.
Should my environment variable look like:
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a\bin;C:\Program
Files\Java\jre7\bin\jabswitch.exe (I'm still a bit inexperienced with
setting environment variables).
Do I need to do something else besides set the environment variable to
activate the jabswitch? I saw something on the oracle site about using a
command line command to activate jabswitch. Is this necessary or should it
already be activated?
Thanks,
Kevin

If you are using the JAB switch, then you should not have to move things
around, but you do have to make sure that the path variable is set. Moving
things around when you are using the JAB switch often just breaks things to
the point that you have to remove everything and start from scratch.

My experience with JAWS and Java says that you have to be careful that you
are installing accessibility support in the correct Java runtime
environment, or JRE. Sometimes you can end up with several of those
installed. Usually they end up under Program Files\Java and have names
starting with JRE, but I've seen them end up in other places sometimes too,
notably for Oracle runtimes but perhaps not only for those. The safest bet
is probably to make sure the accessibility stuff is set up in all JRE
folders you find.

Hello Everyone,
I am taking a course that requires matlab. In class the other day, we all
installed Matlab using CDs. However, I found out that extra steps are needed
to make Matlab accessible with jaws. I found these here:
http://www.kxcad.net/cae_MATLAB/techdoc/matlab_env/bqwp009-1.html
These instructions say that the CD installation of Matlab edits the correct
environment variable and turns on the Java access bridge. The only steps
after this were to create an accessibility.properties file and move it into
the correct folder in the Matlab package. I did this, and I still cannot get
jaws to work with Matlab.
The main problem that I can think of is that we tried installing Matlab
through one CD, and failed. We then used another CD, so there were multiple
partial installations before a complete installation was achieved. I'm
thinking that this may have altered the environment variable. The variable
currently looks like this:
C:\Python27\Scripts;C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a\runtime\win64;C:\Program
Files\MATLAB\R2013a\bin;
Does this look out of the ordinary?
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am using Matlab 13a, windows 7, and jaws 12.
Thanks,
Kevin
