OK,
First off, XP PRO is a good OS, but it still has it's problems.
Most of the time it is an IE issue; IE likes to have it's HTML a certain
way.
Since there are only normalizations, and not distinct standards with HTML
Authoring, you are likely to continue to have problems.
I have JAWS 13 on XP HOME on my LT, and use XP PRO on all of my other
machines with NVDA. (Yes, I hate nvda, but it's free!)
Assside from that, if your fan is accelerating, it is a temperature /
processor issue.
JAWS 14 may not be the *best* for XP PRO. I cannot speak t this directly...
Perhaps someone from FS can comment?
Sometimes your DNS records can get cross-linked, or your temporary internet
files can kludge-up access times.
Best practices:
Clean-up your cache, temporary files, and make sure your DNS servers are
correct with your ISP.
Example, with the conversion of INSIGHT to TIME-WARNER in my area, there are
many reasons why this simillar behavior can occur. DNS Records update
pretty frequently, but sometimes things don't get cleared out on your
machine.
You should leave your History in tact, but consider clearing out Cache and
Temp Files.
Reboot.
Try the problematic sites again and see what happens.
Also, with HEAT of Summer upon us, it is often also that broad-band (cable)
head-ends and lines get over-heated. This causes lower quality signals
accross the transmission lines.
You could be suffering from marginal or borderline signal issues. Calling
your customer service to report intermittant signals is a good idea too.
