[nfbcs] Trouble with IE8

Tracy,

Ian's points are good ones. I am required to stick with IE 8 because of work, and occasionally I get the "not responding" message under Windows 7, but IE 8 generally functions all right for me.

I have heard that IE 10 is better than IE 9, that there were bugs in IE 9 that were not corrected until IE 10. However, I don't think IE 10 runs under Windows XP, and I'm not even sure that IE 9 does. I believe
under IE 8 and Windows XP that there is a "repair" option when you find IE 8 in Add/remove programs. I also use Microsoft Security Essentials, but occasionally I run a scan with Malwarebytes as well, and
you might do that as well. However, I am also of the opinion that you could be dealing with network instability. Do you routinely stream audio, and if so, is it constant? If you do and you get a constant stream,
your network is probably all right. If you don't stream programs from the internet much, then realize that your network could be going up and down and you will never know it just by doing email. I had this
experience for a while when I was on Comcast, but the problem was eventually corrected. Although IE 8 is an old browser, and although I've had the same problem that you are describing, I don't think that
having it happen as often as you are experiencing is attributable to IE 8 alond.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
