[nfbcs] IE8 download problem

I recently changed to IE8, and I'm running Windows XP.
Sometimes, when I hit enter on a link to download a file, it puts up a very 
fast message saying it's downloading, but it never opens the dialog to save 
the download file, and it doesn't really do anything.  It also doesn't make 
the noise that means it's showing the security bar.  Can anyone advise me? 
This is happening with Amazon MP3 downloads, and with an email link that's 
supposed to go get me a file.

Also, when I installed IE8, it said it had some problem with add-ons, so 
it's running without add-ons.  Is this a problem?
