[nfbcs] Using the Spell Checker in Word 2013

Hello,

I wanted to pass this on to anyone who maybe interested. Microsoft has released Microsoft office 2016 for the Mac operating system and it is accessible with voiceover for the very first time. I have been using the office suite for a while now and here are some of my updates on Word.

• It is in deed accessible with voiceover.
• All menu options, are accessible.
• There seems to be some problem when your document grows to a second page. I found this problem to be present with the iWork suite as well so it must be something to do with the way voiceover interacts with multiple pages and scrolls. The issue prevents you from reviewing your document with speech. The text is there on the screen but voiceover is unable to interact with it unless you use the Option + arrow keys.
• Smart Links work
• Spell check works and provides several suggestions which I always wished Pages would have done more of.
• Spell check does not utilize any hot keys currently. Just as Curtis was mentioning I use to love the ability to quickly CTRL I, CTRL C or CTRL A to change my spelling errors but as of now I am unable to do so in Word.
• Creating new documents, saving current documents, and opening existing documents all works perfectly.

I hope this is useful to some of you I know I was excited to finally have access to Office tools on my Mac.

Go Devils!

I also quickly discovered that if a spelling error was discovered in my document, I would be presented with a number of choices to make:

Now, while running the spell checker in Word 2013, if I press ALT+i to ignore what Word perceives to be a spelling error, my screen reader says, "Press the accelerator key only, without the Alt key in Office 2013 or later."

I don't know about you, but as far as I am concerned, this was a real waste of time on my part (not to mention a clear indication that sometimes, my cognitive faculties are not what they should be).

>
> press A to add the offending word to the dictionary;
> press I to ignore the error;
> press G to ignore all of the errors involved with the word;
> press C if I want the suggested correction to replace the word in error; and
> press L if I want all occurrences of the flagged word to be changed to the suggested correction.
