[nfbcs] english being read in different langauge with nvad and jaws in microsoft word and pdf documents

I have this problem where I was given a template Microsoft word file.
It reads the heading levels one in Spanish I think even though
visually it is in English.  Nothing else reads incorrectly.  When I
convert to pdf it does the same thing.  It does this with both jaws
and NVDA.  Has anyone had this problem before or know how to correct
it?
