I tried that. JAWS still talks in whatever language that Word thinks that
is, so the only way to make it go away 100% is to mark the entire document
as English US.

The fastest way is to disable automatic language detection. I know you can
do it in jaws, think it is under verbosity settings insert-v presume NVDA
has something similar.
