i agree, everyone has their own preferences, i was just saying that NVDA is a decent free alternative, and Libre Office / Jart are good free word processors

I won't fan the flames of a screen-reader debate except to observe that it's
not so much a case of which screen-reader is "better" but, rather, which one
will do the job in a manner comfortable for the user in a given situation
with a given application or suite of applications.

Hi there, I'm new to the list but I think i can help. You can get all of
your software for free, over jaws I prefer a reading software called NVDA
which is completely free and I think it's better than jaws, personally I'm
not a huge fan of open office, so there are other free wordprocessing
software's out there, jart and libre office are great alternatives. So now
you can get free screen reading software and a free wordprocessor. The only
thing is that i'm not sure how well they work with Windows 8. I would highly
highly highly recommend Windows 7 or Windows 8. And the more RAM the better,
don't worry too much about internal hard drive space.
