[nfbcs] Scratch from M I T

Hi, so I am assigned a programming class in school. All is well, until I realized that were using scratch from an IT. It is totally accessible, and you have to move pictures around. What do I do? Then, the teacher told me that we use Notepad plus plus for coding. Do I do more CodeBase work? If anybody had to suggestions please let me know, as school starts on Tuesday and I'm really not sure what to do.
