[nfbcs] Equipment necessary for successing in IT

I was also going to suggest getting a braille display. Years ago, I got
into a debate about the Pac Mate notetaker after someone referred to it
as a "boat anchor". That was misleading because itt implied the Pac Mate
was useless, which was not true at all. It was just way, way too
expensive. But it performed it's intended functions very well. I think
that gives today's student something of a dilemma. The basic design of
these notetakers is really nice, a keyboard with a braille display
attached. But I'm not sure they are worth the cost. I'll tell you
though, I loved my Pac Mate. It may have been my all-time favorite piece
of technology.

I now have a Macbook Pro and a blutooth braille display and the response
time is inadequate. You press a key on the laptop and a split second
later you hear the braille display respond. But that's not good enough.
It has to be simultaneous as far as a human being can tell.
