[NFBCS] How best to make a reccomendation

A VP where I work is really interested in making it easier for our workplace
to hire and retain disabled workers.  He wants to develop a toolkit for
different disabilities, so, when an employee has that disability, management
has solid ideas of what can be done to help.  

So, he's asked me to recommend a braille display, speech package, and
terminal emulation software for the blind person toolkit.

I think this is a great initiative, but a little tricky, as everyone's
disability is a bit different.  

I'd say Jaws for a speech/braille package.  It's pretty much the only player
around now for professionals, so far as I know.

I'm not so sure about a braille display.  I've bought a couple which are
really good, but the company has since gone out of business, or been sold to
another company, so maintenance gets complicated.  

I personally like the Alva, which is no longer sold, so far as I know, and
is maintained by VFO, aka FreedomScientific.  

So, if they want to stick with one vendor, the Focus series would make
sense.  It has more bells and whistles than I want, but looks like a good
product.

Or, I like the sound of the HIMS Braille Basic, partly because it has no
bells and whistles.  It's just a plain old braille display.

Or there's the Humanware Brailliant series, which also sounds fine.  

Both Humanware and VFO aren't going anywhere any time soon, so far as I can
tell.  But I thought Baum was solid too, and now they're gone.

 

Anyway, I'm not sure how best to make the recommendation I've been asked
for, and would like some advice from those savvier than I.
