Charles and list:
I use AWS all the time.
I never use the web-based console.
I use the API with the awscli which is written in python.
It does take a little more research and thought, but I have several 
instances over 3 regions, lots of storage, and even lamda skills I manage 
through the tools or with small programs I have written.
Amazon has excellent documentation on how the tools work, and it is well 
worth your time.
btw, I started using AWS back in 2008 or 2009 so I have a long history 
with the platform.
