Insert Escape is always my first attempt.😀

It doesn't work for this problem.

Have you tried insert-Escape in Duxbury? I have found many occasions where the OSM needs to be refreshed, both with JAWS and Window-Eyes, before you can properly edit in Duxbury.

Howdy Glen:

The one place where I have noticed this a lot is with the Duxbury Braille Translation program. If JAWS starts earlier, for whatever reason, when you open a new document, JAWS is not reading the characters I have typed n the screen at all. If I then recycle JAWS, the characters show up. Go figure<smile>.

Hi, Curtis,

Can you provide a couple of examples where reading doesn't work right if you have JAWS automatically start after login? The main difference between the automatic start and creating a startup shortcut is that the former starts JAWS much earlier in the login process.

Greetings:

For the past while, even before this latest update of JAWS, I have noticed a problem with JAWS and Windows 10 which only seems to appear if you set JAWS to start itself automatically after log in. In some instances, JAWS will not detect characters that are normally detected when you move through a document. Restarting JAWS does fix this problem, and this might be why a lot of people don't report it.

My permanent fix for this was to copy the JAWS shortcut into a folder called shell:startup and then to tell JAWS not to start automatically except before the logon screen. So far, it's working for me.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Subject: [NFBCS] Potential Issue with Latest JAWS

Hi all,

I am having a strange issue that only started with the last JAWS version as of this writing (v2020.2008.24). When I open a text editor such as

Notepad++, for example, JAWS will periodically not speak the text under

Notepad++the

PC cursor when navigating through the text with the arrow keys. The only way to fix this problem seems to be to re-start JFW altogether. And yes, I have restarted my computer after updating.

I may or may not be making circumstantially invalid correlations here; however, I have noticed that this error only appears to occur whenever I have recently opened a convenient OCR window and OCRed a PDF doc for instance. Otherwise things appear to be normal.

Anyone got any suggestions? It's a frustrating new development, as I am studying a degree that requires me to do a lot of programming and NPP is my preferred editor of choice for this field of study.

Regards,

Nathaniel
