[NFBCS] JAWS, PuTTY and caret tracking

Hey Everyone,

I'm transitioning from using terminals on Linux with large fonts to terminals on windows using jaws.

I'm struggling to get really good response from jaws when using this terminal. Getting it to read me an entire line when I up or down arrow, read character by character when I move left to right, wor4d by word when I jump by word, getting context from jaws after to a search, or moving from one emacs window to another, etc.

Am I expecting too much from JAWS? Is there a good place for me to start learning how JAWS should work for me within a terminal?

I realize I'm asking for a lot here, and am open to hearing that. Just wanting to hear back from others who are using JAWS in a terminal.

Thanks all for reading and any responses,

Jim

P.S. Glen, I'm assuming you mean they should work out of the box in the default terminal built in windows 10. I've also been trying to use the Cascadia Windows Terminal, which is an opensource terminal written at Microsoft. It has features that I hope to find useful.

This doesn't matter as much if you're entering commands at a command prompt where new text is simply appended at the bottom, but when using an editor like Emacs, VI, etc. the caret could be positioned anywhere on the display and not knowing where it is would make it nearly impossible to edit.
