Hello Amy,

I have used displays from all three companies. They Generally worked well although I have not used their latest models.

The will differ on how difficult it is to load their drivers for various screen reders. That is, The Focus is built by Vispero; therefore, it is slightly easier to configure the Focus for JAWS. You will have to deal with the driver issues only when you originally connect the display to your computer.

One thing to think about is that while an 80-cell display is great for programming, it is somewhat tricky to carry the 80-cell display around.

What I eventually did was to have an 80-cell display at work, and a 40 cell display at home. I purchased the 40-cell display, and my work purchased the 80-cell display.

Subject: [NFBCS] Refreshable 80-cell displays

My college is offering to purchase an 80-cell refreshable braille display for me to use in my computer classes. They are considering the Brailliant 80, Focus 80 5th generation and the Alva B6 680. I have the Focus 40 5th gen, but no experience with Brailliant devices. I've never heard of the Alva. Which one would you recommend?

Thanks, Amy
