Thanks, good to know. 
Do other indoor mapping apps use the LIDAR, or is that a misconception on my
part?  Not that there are many indoor mapping apps yet.

The Goodmaps system uses the phone's camera. You won't require special
lidar features on a phone.
This means you have to hold the phone upright when using Goodmaps, so that
the phone's camera will detect things.
