	FYI, this also works with other space characters, such as ^p for
line break and ^m for page break. Please don't ask why p is for line and m
is for page--I don't know.

Louis,

You could use ctrl+h for search and replace, then search for ^t which Word
will interpret as the tab character, and replace with nothing. This will
remove the actual tab characters.
