Tracy and Louis, the EmBraille/BrailleBuddy does indeed have a single sheet manual feeder as well as a standard tractor feed. FYI when printing using the tractor feeder, you do not need to waste a sheet of tractor paper. You do not need to feed out a sheet to tear off after the last page is printed. If you do move the paper out, you should back it up again so the paper is right at the exit slot, and it will reposition itself when you begin printing again.

By the way I was wrong that the BrailleBuddy did not include Tiger Software Suite. It does. Sorry, you may be able to tell that I do not do sales!

Mine does single feed as well as tractor feed.  Single side only and slow.
Perfect for my needs.

Do the printers mentioned by John and Lewis use tractor-feed paper, or single sheets?
Often I just need a page or 2, and I end up wasting paper because I have to shoot out another sheet to tear off what I want.  My printer only uses tractor-feed paper.

Jim, what characteristics do you need? i.e. is a non-speedy letter size single-sided embosser good enough? If so, the best buy is a ViewPlus EmBraille ($2000) but that you can buy as BrailleBuddy from Irie-AT for $1500. The difference is that the BrailleBuddy does not include the Tiger Software Suite and the EmBraille does. Naturally, both print really good graphics.

An embosser that prints interpoint on 11.5 paper costs $3500 or more.

I’m prejudiced of course since I am president of ViewPlus.

Does anyone know if there has been anything written as of late regarding or comparing the best or most affordable Braille embossers, mainly for home use? I’ve done some googling, and I found something Anne Taylor wrote back in the early 2000’s. Things have changed since then, so I thought I’d ask. I’m beginning to look again.
