I took the CISSP exam yesterday and Pearson did not have a reader scheduled. Given some career situations I went ahead with the exam using only the accommodations provided.

I am happy to report that I passed the CISSP exam with the minimum number of questions given by the CAT exam.

My concern is that had I chosen to reschedule the exam it would have been the fourth time.

I finally heard back from Pearson I will be taking the exam on February 14, which is a date that is kind of inconvenient for me and possibly current employer, but unless it is the date that I was given to take my exam. I originally requested an exam date during the week of February 5th.

I know this is a minor issue compared to the others I experienced, but my sighted peers can schedule their exam at their convenience through the Pearson VUE website. We should be able to schedule and take these exams that fits with our work and family schedules.

Pearson VUE is the exclusive exam provider for a lot of IT and other professional certification exams from ISC2, CompTIA, and others. This also includes the CNAB 20 which is an entrance exam for the NSA, and the Foreign Service Officer Test for the Department of State, Home appraisal exams, real estate exams and the like. Please see the attached list of certifications and licenses that Pearson VUE a proctor for.

These credentials can be a major determining factor whether or not we are qualified for numerous jobs over and above our educational qualifications. This can limit our ability to get a phone screen let alone a face to face interview.

hello Harry and everyone on this list. Harry is right that this is an important issue; in
order to work in technical fields, blind folks should be able to achieve certification using
standardized tests with appropriate accommodations. As president of the NFB in Computer
Science Division, I'd like to get a sense of how many folks here have taken a certification
test from Pearson and whether or not that testing lead to a successful certification. If you'd
rather write me privately, as opposed to via this list, that would be fine as well. In the
mean time, here are some additional questions, which may do more to show my ignorance around
this topic than actually shed light on the issue.

For the CISSP certification, is it necessary to get certified through Pearson or are there
other testing providers who can provide that certification as well? If other providers are an
option, who are they?

Is there a list of certifications Pearson provides testing for? In other words, how big
of a fish is Pearson in the world of certifitation testing?

-thanks
