[NFBCS] Collaboration in MS tools like word

All,

I have never personally tried what Charles suggested, but my understanding is that it should work. Have others here tried this approach and found it not to work? One can create a link to a OneDrive document which works similarly to DropBox links. I would be curious to know if others have found specific issues with this so we could bring them to Microsoft's attention. Charles, would all users open the document using OneDrive links if they did not have OneDrive themselves?

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Hi Jim,
To answer your original two questions related to Microsoft.

Question 1. Is this collaboration doable for screen reader users?
Answer: Absolutely, in Microsoft Word or Excel collaborating in 1 doc or spreadsheet at the same time is just like working on it solo if you are connected to the internet and open the file with autosave in the Microsoft Office app or in your browser. There may just be editing restrictions on pieces of the file such as a Excel cell someone else is actively changing.

Question 2: Does this collaboration require OneDrive, or can we do it with documents stored in Dropbox or google drive?
Answer: OneDrive is required by 1 person.

Nancy:

Brilliant! That is what I would do were I in charge of the team.

I have been in meetings where people were working simultaniously on a Google Doc. It is pretty chaotic whether you worked visually or not. It might be easier to assign someone to each part of the document and a person to make sure the final product gets put together correctly.
