[NFBCS] Accessibee doesn't work well with Firefox

I don’t think that they do. I am periodically working on a Firefox version, but it currently only removes AccessiBee. If anyone wants to try using it, which requires manually loading it each time, let me know, and I can send you the latest version.

My life has been a lot more pleasant since I installed the AccessiBeGone extension. Not sure if they have it for FireFox though. It basically blocks all the major accessibility overlays.

Hello:

I quite agree. Automation doesn’t always fix everything--almost never, in fact. Other measures are needed to supplement what automation provides.

I would be glad to bug accessiBe about this if you could supply some specific examples privately. Reach out to me personally at chong.curtis at gmail.com <mailto:chong.curtis at gmail.com> .

People like us who live in the real world need to communicate these sorts of problems to the companies who too often are perceived as having automated solutions which, all by themselves, will solve our accessibility issues.

Kind regards,

More and more I run into websites with “accessibility” provided by Accessibee. They tell me to turn on screen reader mode by hitting alt-1.

I am finding that those sites don’t work well with Firefox, regardless of whether screen reader mode is on or not. Yesterday, I was trying to add something to my cart, and couldn’t do it in or out of screen reader mode. Today, I was filling out a form and it skipped required fields in screen reader mode.

Switching to Chrome seems to solve the problem; at least it did for both the websites that didn’t work with Firefox.

I know this is crazy talk, but, if a website is supposed to be accessible, it ought to be accessible with all 3 major browsers. Imagine that.
