Positivos para los Ciegos



Los términos Propuestos del Acuerdo en la Resolución del Pleito en la
Demanda Revolucionarán el Acceso a los Libros para la Gente Ciega



Baltimore, Maryland (31 de octubre del 2008): La Federación Nacional de
Ciegos, principal en la abogacía de la nación para el acceso a la
información, por los ciegos, ha anunciado hoy que el acuerdo reciente entre
Google y los autores, y editores sobre el proyecto de los Libros de Google,
si está, aprobado por los tribunales, tendrá un impacto profundo y positivo
en la capacidad de la gente ciega de tener acceso a la palabra impresa. Los
términos del acuerdo que fueron alcanzados el 28 de octubre entre Google, el
Gremio de los autores, y la Asociación de  Editores Americanos, a nombre de
una clase amplia de autores y de editores, permite que, Google proporcione
material que ofrece a usuarios, "en una forma, que acomode a usuarios con
incapacidades de inprenta, de modo que tales usuarios tengan,
substancialmente, una experiencia similar, del usuario, como usuarios sin
incapacidades de la inprenta." Un usuario con una incapacidad de la
inprenta, según los términos del acuerdo, es uno quién es "incapaz de leer o
de utilizar el material impreso estándar debido a la ceguera, la incapacidad
visual, las limitaciones físicas, la disfunción orgánica, o la dyslexia." la
gente ciega, como otros miembros del público, podrá buscar los textos de
libros en la reserva, en la base de datos  de los Libros de Google, en
línea; comprar algunos libros en un formato accesible; o tener acceso a

El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos, dijo:
"El acceso a la palabra impresa ha sido históricamente uno de los desafíos
más grandes hechos frente por los ciegos. El acuerdo entre Google, los
autores y los editores revolucionarán el acceso a los libros para los
americanos ciegos.



La gente ciega podrá buscar libros a través de Libros Google que
interconectan, y podrán comprarlos, pedirlos prestados, o, leer en una
biblioteca pública cualquiera de los libros que están disponibles para el
público en general, en un formato que es compatible con el software de la
ampliación del texto, y en el, de texto a parlante, en el acceso al
software, y los dispositivos conectados del refreshable Braille. Con 7
millones de libros ya disponibles en la colección de Libros de Google y
mucho más por venir, este acuerdo significa que la gente ciega tendrá más
acceso a libros en inprenta que lo que hemos tenido alguna vez en la
