"Proyecto VIP" para ayudar a votantes ciegos el día de elección

Baltimore, Maryland (21 de octubre del 2008): La Federación Nacional de 
Ciegos, la abogacía principal en la nación para los derechos al voto de la 
gente ciega, ha anunciado hoy que está poniendo en marcha el proyecto VIP

(Votando con Independencia y Privacidad), un teléfono directo gratis estará 
disponible a votantes ciegos a través de los Estados Unidos en el Día de la 
elección. El propósito del teléfono directo es ayudar a los votantes ciegos 
que están experimentando problemas en votar independientemente, y 
privadamente como es requerido por el acto de la ayuda del voto de América. 
La Federación Nacional de Ciegos tendrá especialistas de votación en llamada 
para proporcionar apoyo a los ciegos votantes que llaman de sus 
localizaciones de las urnas, y asistir dentro de problemas de la 
localización de averías con la tecnología de votación no visual. Si un 
votante ciego no puede votar independientemente, y privadamente, los 
especialistas de la votación registrarán los detalles tales como la ciudad, 
el estado, y la localización de la urna. La información de las situaciones 
que no pueden ser resueltas durante una llamada telefónica directa al VIP 
del proyecto serán referidas a las autoridades competentes para la acción de

El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos, dijo:

derecho de votar, y la elección presidencial 2008 es la primera elección en 
la cual se le garantiza a los americanos ciegos el derecho para emitir su 
voto por el presidente, independientemente y privadamente. La Federación 
Nacional de Ciegos está creando el Proyecto VIP para asegurar que cada 
votante ciego pueda ejercitar este histórico e inestimable derecho, por el 
que los Americanos ciegos han luchado, y continuarán protejiendo."



El 4 de noviembre, a votantes ciegos que experimenten problemas de la 
votación independientemente, y privadamente, se les pide llamar al 
877-NFB-1940

(877-632-1940) a partir de las 7 de la mañana a 10 P.M. (EST). Los 
especialistas de votación contestando este número asistirán al votante
