por la Inauguración del Nuevo Kindle Accesible



Baltimore, Maryland (29 de julio del 2010): La Federación Nacional de
Ciegos, (NFB), elogió hoy a Amazon en la inauguración de un nuevo,
Kindle accesible. Amazon anunció el miércoles que el nuevo Kindle
vendrá equipado con una guía de voz que lee todas las opciones del menú en
voz alta,
a fín de que personas ciegas, y otros con discapacidad en la inprenta puedan
navegar por los menús del dispositivo.



El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos,
dijo: "Elogiamos a Amazon por la inauguración de un nuevo Kindle que las
personas ciegas,

y otros con discapacidad en la inprenta pueden utilizar. Para competir en la
actual
sociedad digital, las personas ciegas,y otros con discapacidad en la
inprenta, deben poder
acceder las tecnologías de lectura, así mismo cómo  los videntes. La
Federación

Nacional de Ciegos ha estado durante mucho tiempo instando a Amazon para que
su
dispositivo de lectura sea accesible, y nos complace que nuestros esfuerzos
han
dado sus frutos."



En junio del 2009, la Federación Nacional de Ciegos, y el Consejo

Americano de Ciegos, (ACB), entablaron una demanda contra la Universidad de
Arizona State,
(ASU), con el fín de  evitar que la universidad implementara el dispositivo
de lectura electrónico

Kindle DX de Amazon, cómo medio de difusión de
libros de texto electrónicos a sus estudiantes, debido a que el dispositivo
no puede
ser utilizado por los estudiantes ciegos. El Kindle DX tiene tecnología

de texto a parlante que puede leer libros en voz alta a los estudiantes
ciegos.
los menús del dispositivo no eran accesibles a los ciegos, sin embargo,
por lo que, era imposible que un usuario ciego comprara libros de
la tienda de Kindle de Amazon, seleccionara un libro para leer, activara la
