Baltimore, Maryland (11 de mayo del 2010): La Federación Nacional de
Ciegos, (NFB), la organización más grande de personas ciegas en los
Estados Unidos, anunció hoy que su presidente, el Doctor Marc Maurer,
recibirá un grado de doctorado honorario en leyes de la Universidad de
Notre Dame en la ceremonia del 2010 que comenzará el 16 de mayo del 2010.
Maurer,
se graduó en 1974 de la Universidad de Notre Dame.

El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos,
dijo: "Me siento muy contento por el privilegio de recibir un título
honorífico de
mi alma mater. Cómo presidente de la organización más grande de personas

ciegas en los Estados Unidos, he tenido la suerte de jugar un papél en
muchos desarrollos exitantes de vidacambiante para las personas ciegas en
Norte América. Si bien hemos avanzado mucho, todavía queda mucho por
hacer. Sólo el 10 por ciento de los niños ciegos aprenden braille en este
país, lo que contribuye directamente a la tasa de desempleo del 70 por
ciento

Maurer ha sido presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos
