Hace casi dos meses, le pedí a la gente ver una película de video en cortometraje hecha por Stella Kyriakopoulos, una película de estudio de posgrado en la NYU.  Su cortometraje, "Bob Va al Partenón", "Bob Goes to the Parthenon," se basó en un relato que escribí para el Braille Monitor en el 2005, titulado, "Otra de las Maravillas." Ese relato describe cómo yo había pedido permiso, y se me había dado, para caminar realmente en el Partenón, el antiguo templo en la Acrópolis de Atenas, Grecia.  

 

Stella hizo su video como un proyecto para su trabajo de posgrado, así como para entrar en el concurso de cortometrajes, Greek America Foundation Short Film Contest.  Le pedí a la gente ver el video en línea y votar "like", me gusta", en ello, pues, los votos eran para ayudar a decidir el ganador del concurso.  

 

¡Y tengo el placer de anunciar que el cortometraje de Stella ganó el primer lugar en el concurso! Esto fue anunciado en el Festival de Cine de la Fundación, Foundation's film festival en Toronto, Canadá, el 12 de mayo.  Sus votos ayudaron, pero también, el veredicto incluye aportaciones de críticos de cine en el festival.  Obviamente, el video de Stella era un producto superior, que es la verdadera ganadora en todo esto, y su reconocimiento deberá ayudarle en su carrera futura de la producción cinematográfica.

Almost two months ago, I asked people to view a video/short film made by Stella Kyriakopoulos, a graduate film major at NYU.  Her short film, "Bob Goes to the Parthenon," was based on a story I wrote for the Braille Monitor back in 2005 entitled, "Another Wonder."  That story described how I'd asked for permission, and was given it, to actually walk within the Parthenon, the ancient temple on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.  

 

Stella made her video as a project for her graduate work, and also to enter into the Greek America Foundation Short Film Contest.  I asked for people to view the video online, and to vote "like" on it, those votes to help decide the winner of the contest.  

 

And I'm very happy to announce that Stella's short film won first place in the contest!  That was announced at the Foundation's film festival in Toronto, Canada, on May 12.  Your votes helped, but also the verdict included input from film critics at the festival.  Obviously, Stella's video was a superior product, that she's the real winner in all this, and her recognition should help her in her future career of film production.
