Asunto: El reclutamiento para el Comité de Comunicaciones de la Federación

El Comité de Comunicaciones de la Federación es uno de los dos comités originales formados en la concepción de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos (pertenencia era el otro). Nuestra misión es examinar las cuestiones relativas al Braille Monitor, boletines de noticias estatales, y la gama total de las comunicaciones y la información a través de nuestro movimiento. 

Necesitamos unos nuevos buenos miembros que tienen un interés en las comunicaciones, la pasión por la misión de la Federación, y que pueden comprometerse a dar de su talento y su tiempo a nuestra parte de cambiar lo que significa ser ciego. 

Lo que hemos logrado en los últimos tres años:

#1 Búsqueda de publicaciones divisionales de toda filial de la Federación. Se ha comunicado con los redactores para conocer sus necesidades , animarles a unirse a la lista de distribución de los redactores de la Federación, NFB-Editors, a fin de compartir las publicaciones de todo el mundo , etc.

#2 Se hizo una visión general de todos los sitios web de las divisiones de la Federación. Se encontró once filiales que no estaban en WWW, se hizo comunicación con ellos acerca de sus necesidades. Se armó una propuesta para ofrecer un dominio gratis y servicio de webmaster inicial y el entrenamiento para un webmaster de su elección. Todas las cincuenta y dos filiales están ahora funcionando. (Cuatro filiales consiguieron funcionar por sí mismas, asistimos a siete. Seguimos siendo el webmaster de cinco de ellas)

#3 Se hizo una visión general de los esfuerzos de comunicación totales de todas las filiales. Fueron catalogados, clasificados y agrupados los tipos de métodos y herramientas que se utilizan , y se compartieron con todas las filiales, divisiones y capítulos. 

#4 se ha creado un Equipo de Entrenamiento de Facebook para llegar, alentar y ayudar a las filiales , divisiones y capítulos  a utilizar Facebook para promocionar a la Federación.
#5 Se asistió al Equipo de Acción de Afiliación para obtener que todos los sitios web publiquen el aviso de nuestro nuevo recaudador de fondos nacionales , el programa de donación de vehículos. (Con la introducción de veintiún  filiales que funcionaban, ahora tenemos cuarenta y siete, y el compromiso de hacerlo del resto)

#6 En la convención organizamos un taller. Basamos el tema en lo que parece ser las necesidades actuales de los interesados en la comunicación de la Federación que están buscando soluciones, y o, un foro para compartir ideas.

Recruiting for the NFB Communications Committee

The NFB Communications committee is one of the two original committees formed at the conception of the National Federation of the Blind (membership was the other). Our mission is to consider questions dealing with the Braille Monitor, state newsletters, and the total range of communications and information throughout our movement. 

We need a few new good members who have an interest in communications, a passion for the mission of the NFB, and can commit to giving of their talent and time to our part of changing what it means to be blind. 

What we have accomplished over the past three years:

#1 Sought out all NFB affiliate and divisional publications. Communicate with editors, find out their needs, encourage them to join the NFB-Editors listserv, share everyone's publications, etc.

#2 Surveyed all NFB affiliate and divisional websites. Found eleven affiliates were not on the WWW, communicated with them about their needs. Put together a proposal to offer a free domain, and initial webmaster service, and training for a webmaster of their choice. All fifty-two affiliates are now up. (Four affiliates got themselves up, we assisted seven. We are still the webmaster of five of them)

#3 Made a survey of all affiliates total communications efforts. Cataloged, categorized and grouped the types of method and tools being used, and shared them with all affiliates, divisions, and chapters. 

#4 Created a Facebook Trainer Team to reach out and encourage and assist affiliates, divisions, and chapters to utilize Facebook to promote themselves and NFB.
#5 Assisted the Affiliate Action Team to get all affiliate and division websites to post the notice for our new national fund raiser, the vehicle donation program. (Started with twenty-one affiliates had it up, now we have forty-seven, with a commitment to do so from the remainder)

#6 At convention we host a workshop. We base the theme on what appears to be the current needs of those NFB communication players who are looking for solutions and/or a forum to share ideas.
