Se nos ha pedido hacer circular lo siguiente:




Hola,

                 me llamo Stephen Raclaw y soy un teniente de incendios con 
la ciudad de Brookfield,
con el Departamento de Bomberos.  Actualmente estoy inscrito en el Programa

Ejecutivo Oficial Nacional

de las Academias de Bomberos e Incendios.

                 Como parte de este programa,
se requiere que los estudiantes escriban artículos de investigación sobre 
diversos temas.
  Mi tema aún no ha sido claramente definido; pero
Estoy buscando uno en la educación de prevención de incendios
y seguridad de vida de las poblaciones de los ciegos y de aquellos con 
impedimentos visuales.

                 En mi investigación inicial, he encontrado muy pocos 
recursos disponibles para la población de los ciegos y para aquellos con 
impedimentos visuales, y sin recursos que
un departamento de bomberos podría utilizar para enseñar a la población de 
los ciegos y a aquellos con impedimentos visuales.  Como miembro del 
servicio de bomberos, no estoy contento con esto.

                 Considero que el servicio de bomberos puede hacerlo mejor y 
la población de los ciegos y de aquellos con discapacidades visuales se 
merecen algo mejor. Creo esto porque soy visualmente
discapacitado y dos de mis cuatro hijos están discapacitados visualmente. No 
estoy haciendo esta investigación como una tarea; lo hago porque estoy 
apasionado por
ello.

                 He adjuntado dos enlaces de Google Drive para encuestas en 
línea.  Una encuesta es para personas ciegas y para aquellos con 
discapacidad visual.  El otro es para los padres
de niños ciegos y para aquellos con discapacidad visual.  Les pido que sean 
honestos.  No estoy siguiéndole el rastro a los que llenan esta encuesta, 
sólo quiero las respuestas.

                 Mi intención en esta investigación es demostrar que aunque 
el servicio de bomberos hace hincapié en la atención educativa a los grupos 
de "alto riesgo",
nos estamos quedando cortos en nuestra meta.  Quiero cambiar eso.

We have been asked to circulate the following:




Hello,

                 My name is Stephen Raclaw and I
am a fire lieutenant with the Town of Brookfield,
WI Fire Department.  I am currently enrolled in
the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program.

                 As part of this program,
students are required to write research papers on
various topics.  My topic has yet to be clearly
defined; but I am looking at the fire prevention
and life safety education of the blind and visually impaired populations.

                 In my initial research, I have
found very few resources available for the blind
and visually impaired population and no resources
in which a fire department could use to teach the
blind and visually impaired population.  As a
member of the fire service, I am not hapy with this.

                 I think the fire service can do
better and the blind and visually impaired
population deserves better.  I believe this
because I am visually impaired and two of my four
children are visually impairred.  I am not doing
this research as an assignment; I am doing it because I am passionate about
it.

                 I have attached two links for
Google Drive online surveys.  One survey is for
blind and visually impaired person.  The other is
for parents of blind and visually impaired
children.  I ask that you be honest.  I am not
tracking who takes this survey, only the answers.

                 My intention of this research is
to show that although the fire service places
emphasis on providing education to "high risk"
groups, we are falling short in our goal.  I want to change that.
