Descripción del Trabajo 

 

Por más de 25 años , Blindness: Learning In New Dimensions (BLIND, Inc.)  ha proporcionado instrucción en grupos pequeños en las técnicas alternas de la ceguera. Nuestros programas se basan en una actitud positiva hacia la ceguera y la creencia en la normalidad y la competencia de las personas ciegas. Sabemos que con entrenamiento y oportunidad adecuada, las personas ciegas pueden vivir una vida plena, feliz y exitosa . 

 

Buscamos a alguien que es un apasionado de la enseñanza, entusiasmado por los nuevos desafíos , y está interesado en trabajar como parte de un equipo pequeño pero enérgico. 

 

Deberes y Responsabilidades

 

1. Proporcionar instrucción individualizada a los adultos ciegos en todas las áreas de Braille, incluyendo pero no limitado a:

* Memorización del código braille 

* Lectura Braille  

*  Escritura braille con  una pizarra y un punzón

* Escritura braille en una máquina de escribir braille

* Lectura y escritura braille en los dispositivos electrónicos incluyendo tomadores de apuntes y pantallas braille

 

2. Proporcionar instrucción individualizada a los adultos ciegos en todas las áreas de asistencia tecnológica, incluyendo pero no limitado a:

* Los sistemas operativos Windows

* JAWS for Windows, y otros lectores de pantalla

* Aplicaciones de Microsoft Office

* El internet

* Pantallas Braille

3. Proporcionar instrucción a varios estudiantes adultos en un formato de grupo pequeño.  

 

4. Utilizar el programa de estudios para desarrollar planes de lecciones individualizadas y actualizar el plan de estudios , según sea necesario.

 

5. Redactar informes mensuales completos sobre cada estudiante que describa los avances realizados y los objetivos que deben completarse.

 

6. Participar y colaborar en todas las actividades del centro como la escalada de rocas, el esquí , y el campamento, incluyendo algunas noches y fines de semana

 

7. Funcionar como parte de un equipo, mantener una estrecha comunicación con la directora y otros instructores, y participar activamente en el personal y otras reuniones. 

 

8. Promover la filosofía progresista de la organización sobre la ceguera, y las actitudes positivas hacia los estudiantes, compañeros de trabajo y otras personas, y proporcionar apoyo y orientación a los estudiantes a través de su programa. Representar activamente a BLIND, Inc. en reuniones y presentaciones públicas.

 

9. Promover activamente la filosofía de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos, tanto durante como fuera de la clase. 

 

10. Otras responsabilidades cuando son asignadas

 

Requisitos de la Instructora de Comunicaciones

 

1. La experiencia en las áreas de Braille y asistencia tecnológica, especialmente con el software de lector de pantalla Windows.

 

2. Capaz de pasar la prueba de Que Ningún Niño Se Quede Atrás, NCLB, y las pruebas de tecnología gestionadas por Servicios Estatales para Personas Ciegas de Minnesota dentro de los 6 meses de empleo.

 

3. Estar dispuesto a someterse y completar con éxito un período de entrenamiento remunerado del personal con el fin de aprender habilidades alternas de la ceguera. 

 

4. Debe tener un título universitario o experiencia laboral equivalente. 

 

5. Capacidad para planificar , organizar y desarrollar las enseñanzas.

 

6. Debe poseer excelentes habilidades de comunicación verbal y escrita y debe ser capaz de trabajar con eficacia como parte de un equipo

 

7. Debe demostrar la capacidad de trabajar con una variedad de personas en una variedad de situaciones.

 

8. Debe poseer las habilidades organizativas necesarias para trabajar con varios estudiantes en múltiples proyectos.

 

9. Debe ser capaz de aprender nuevos productos y actualizaciones a medida que estén disponibles.

 

10. Debe estar comprometido con la independencia y la plena integración de la comunidad de las personas ciegas.

Job Description


For over 25 years, Blindness: Learning In New Dimensions (BLIND, Inc.) has provided small group instruction in the alternative techniques of blindness. * Writing braille on a braille writer
* Reading and writing braille on electronic devices including notetakers and braille displays

* Windows operating systems
* JAWS for Windows and other screen readers
* Microsoft Office applications
* The internet
* Braille displays
* Smart phones


3. Provide instruction to several adult students in a small group format.  


4. Use the curriculum to develop individualized lesson plans and update the curriculum as needed.

 

5. Write comprehensive monthly reports on each student describing progress made and goals to be completed.


6. Participate and assist in all center activities such as rock climbing, skiing, and camping, including on some evenings and weekends


7. Function as part of a team, maintaining close communication with the  director and other instructors, and actively participate in staff and other meetings. 


8. Promote the organization's progressive philosophy of blindness and positive attitudes to students, co-workers and others, and provide support and guidance to students throughout their program. Actively represent BLIND, Inc. in public meetings and presentations.


9. Actively promote the philosophy of the National Federation of the Blind both during and outside of class. 


10. Other duties as assigned

5. Ability to plan, organize and develop lessons.


6. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be able to work effectively as part of a team


7. Must demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of people in a variety of situations.


8. Must possess the organizational skills required to work with multiple students on multiple projects.


9. Must be able to learn new products and updates as they become available.


10. Must be committed to the independence and full community integration of blind people.
