Estimados Compañeros Federationistas,

Estoy totalmente energizado tras la estupenda convención nacional del 
2017. Gracias por la labor que cada uno de ustedes hizo para hacer una 
convención tranquila, enérgica y poderosa

este año. El número de los primerizos fue impresionante como siempre, y 
he tomado nota de un número de líderes para ayudar a asegurar que 
nuestros novatos tuvieran una gran experiencia.

Esta mañana yo estaba en Towson, Maryland, para el inicio de nuestras 
Competencias de la Juventud de la Federación en 2017. Es impresionante 
para mí, que tenemos un número de Federacionistas quienes

crecieron en la Federación en el programa de las Competencias, ahora 
desempeñándose como mentores en 2017. Además, tenemos algunos de 
nuestros mentores nuevamente que empezaron a trabajar con nuestros

programas de Ciencias, Tecnología,Ingeniería y Matemáticas, STEM, en 
2004 cuando empezamos este viaje. Es realmente inspirador ver a nuestros 
alumnos convertirse en mentores y me da una gran esperanza para los

planes que tenemos guardados para los próximos cinco años. Nuestros 
programas educativos son algunas de las cosas más importantes que 
hacemos, y vamos a seguir construyendo el canal

que pone a los jóvenes en nuestra organización.

Tomo nota de que también estamos en medio de un número de Academias del 
Programa BELL de Enriquecimiento de Braille para la Alfabetización y el

Esta semana se celebra el 27º aniversario de la Ley de Americanos con 
Discapacidades (ADA). Este sábado pasado, participé en una celebración 
de la Ley de Americanos con Discapacidades, ADA, en Maryland.

Como el Senador demócrata Ben Cardin dijo en ese evento, "podemos 
celebrar por la próxima hora o más y luego se vuelve al trabajo." A 
medida que participan en eventos de la Ley de Americanos con 
Discapacidades, ADA, en todo el

país, siga recordándole a la gente la importancia de contar con la 
Federación Nacional de Ciegos y la necesidad de que sigamos haciendo

Actualización de Reglamento de la Ley de Americanos con Discapacidades, ADA:

La Federación Nacional de Ciegos ha estado trabajando para fomentar la 
promulgación de la Ley de Americanos con Discapacidades, ADA, Título II 
y Título III de Normas del Internet. El 20 de julio de 2017,

la Oficina de Administración y Presupuesto había liberado la agenda 
unificada de acciones de reglamentación y desreglamentación anunciando 
que la Administración estaba suspendiendo la

acción sobre cientos de reglamentos, incluido el título II de la Ley de

Problemas en el Servicio de la Oficina de Correos de Estados unidos, USPS:
