You are now limited where you can come back from with your service dog!!
That's right if you cruse to 1 of the CBC black listed ports & don't even
get off the ship with your dog you will not be allowed to bring your service
dog back to the United States!

We now cannot go to several ports in the Caribbean.

Dear Mike Bowmer:

Please check below for details. Also, please continue to check the CDC
website for the most recent information.

United States with their dogs after July 14 (such as for vacation or to

If you would like to submit an
<https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/a
pply-dog-import-permit.html> application, please submit all requested
documents as soon as you receive your change of duty station notification or
at least 30 business days (6 weeks) before traveling to the United States.

Please note, each eligible importer may be granted approval to import a
maximum of 3 dogs for one trip during the temporary suspension.

During the transitional period from July 14, 2021- October 14, 2021, return
travelers who left the United States (such as temporary travel for vacation)
may apply for a permit if they left the United States before July 14, 2021.
Dogs with a CDC Dog Import Permit must enter the United States at one of
these 18 airports: Anchorage, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW),
Detroit, Honolulu, Houston (IAH), Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York

After October 14, 2021, only
<https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/a
pply-dog-import-permit.html#approved-ports> approved ports of entry are
allowed. CDC will update the list of approved ports of entry as they become
available.

Submitting an application does not guarantee a permit will be issued-CDC
reserves the right to deny issuing a dog permit. Submitting false
information or making other false statements is punishable with fines and
imprisonment.

No permits are given upon arrival. If your request for advance approval is
denied, CDC's written denial will constitute final agency action.

Subject: Questions about the new permit for service dogs?

So, I need to know the boundaries & what I can do & not do in regards to the
new permit that allows my service dog/seeing eye dog to come back to the
United States?

What about cruises that leave from the United States? If I go on a cruise
that docks at 1 of the countries on your rabies black list. & Get off the
ship with my seeing eye dog can I come back to the United States on that
cruise ship back to the United States with my Seeing eye dog?

What if the cruise ship I board in the United States with my seeing eye dog
dock at 1 of the countries on your rabies black list but I & my seeing eye
dog do not get of the ship while at that port & then come back to the United
States on that ship can my seeing eye dog & I come back into the United
States?

If you have answers, please please tell me where any port official can look
this up so I do not get stopped by some port authority trying to do his job.

Not only does my Seeing eye dog provide an invaluable service. I have
bounded & would feel lost without him. His value is much more than the
$60000 that the school have invested in him!

Thank you

Mike Bowmer
