Subject: National Library Service (NLS) 2023 Summer Reading Program

The NLS Patron Engagement Section invites you to attend the first NLS Summer
Reading Program! It begins on Monday, June 26, with a kickoff event
featuring the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, who will welcome all
participants and read a picture book for our young readers. The kickoff will
be followed by weekly author talks and story times and music, starting on
Thursday, June 29, with Shelby Van Pelt, author of the New York Times
bestselling novel Remarkably Bright Creatures.

Library patrons must register to attend each of these free summer reading
events, which will be held virtually on Zoom. Please note that most of these
events will not be recorded or posted online due to our agreements with the
authors and publishers. Patrons will not have an opportunity to view these
