Greetings Greater Jacksonville Chapter Members:
I would like to take this time to thank everyone who came to yesterday's
meeting in person. We had a wonderful meeting with a very productive
election.
Congratulations goes out to the following new and continuing board members:
Vice President - Russ Davis
Treasurer - Jason Keve
Board position 2 - Adriann Keve
Board Position 3 - Sarah Jacobs
I am thrilled to work with our newly elected board members, as well as those
who retained their previous positions. I know that 2025 is going to be a
wonderful year for the Jacksonville Chapter, and you will be a huge part of
why that is so.
Before I go any further, I want to take the time to thank those who served
on our board during the previous term. Russ has been our Treasurer since
2015, and his work cannot go unnoticed. His love of math and spreadsheets
has kept our chapter financially sound for many years and for that he
deserves our gratitude.
Our previous Vice President, Denise Valkema has been a Federationist for
many years. Her work in the Florida affiliate has helped to shape who and
what we are today. Her love of the Federation, and tireless work ethic is
something she can be proud of as I know we all are.
As we look to the future, I know that it will take all of us working
together to make Jacksonville one of the best cities in the U.S for blind
people to live.
Another topic we discussed at yesterday's meeting is our November meeting.
It was decided by all in attendance that on November 2 we will have a
holiday party. Our meeting/party will be held once again at the Colonial
Point Clubhouse. The address is 5201 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
A committee was formed to work out catering options, and I know they will
come up with a wonderful meal for us. What we need from each of you is
whether you will be in attendance. This will help us to plan for how much
food to order. If we have to much food, then some of us will have to eat
those leftovers, and we would not want that.
If you would like to attend on November 2, at 12:30 PM please reply to this
message and let us know.
More information will be coming out as time goes by, but this will be a
quick turn-around as the date is fast approaching.
Thank you all for all that you do to make our chapter "The Greatest." I look
forward to seeing you all soon.
Warmly
Kaye Baker
President, National Federation of the Blind of Florida
Greater Jacksonville Chapter
