The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Research Title: Spatial and Object Perception Among the Vision Impaired<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Being conducted by: University of New South Wales<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Purpose of the Study<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The research aims to investigate the prevalence of echolocation use within the vision impaired community. The research questions that this human research seeks to address are:<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">1. How common is echolocation usage? <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">2. What spatial and object features of the environment are the vision impaired able to perceive through the use of echolocation?<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">3. Is training and knowledge of echolocation associated with its usage?<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">The survey will ask questions about demographics (gender, age, and residential country), information regarding your vision loss and level of visual function, information about your mobility, and about ability to perceive spatial and object features. Any questions that participants do not wish to answer may be skipped. It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Proposed Participant Compensation<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">Yes, Participants are offered the option to go into a draw to win 1 of 5 gift cards valued at $100 AUD.
