Hi all,
We're in the process (NFB webmasters) of investigating the creation of a
"Programming" group of students which will be tutored in programming
languages. It is intended for individuals to explore programming as a
career. Initially, web development will be the focus. Web applications will
be written by group(teams) of like ability persons. Newbies will be with
newbies, etc. It's just in the planning stage and will take a few months to
implement. Anyone interested in exploring programming as a career and who is
middle school and above, let me know at arnoldbail at gmail.com or on this
list. It is important to understand that the person can commit the time and
interest since the group (team) will be writing applications in a simulated
development environment. A guess would be 4-5 hours per week. This is a
great opportunity for blind and visually impaired students to gain an
insight into a career that us fun, challenging and lucrative. The tools are
all there to be successful. This is one profession that we can compete on an
equal footing with the sighted.
If someone could forward this to the parents and students list, I would
appreciate it.
Thanks,
Arnold Bailey
