  Fellow Federation Friends,

After lengthy consideration, I have decided to announce my candidacy for the office of President of the National Federation of the Blind of Florida.

I have been a member of the NFBF for 30 years, and a member of our Board of Directors for all but about three of those years.

I feel that I am well qualified to lead the affiliate as president, having served for one previous term (2003 - 2005) plus a couple of months before. I know what an enormous job being your president is, and I am prepared to do it.

Since that time I have worked very closely and proudly with NFBF President Kathy Davis. She has served the affiliate well, and kept us moving forward and upward. Our standing in the national organization has improved greatly over the past several years. We have members serving on several national committees and division. We have received several Imagination Grants to complete our ambitious projects. I would like to continue along that worthwhile path.

I look forward to seeing and meeting with all of you at our upcoming convention, and would appreciate your support and all of your votes on the morning of May 25.

  Thank you all.

  Dan Hicks
