Jody,

I was asked this last spring by my reading advisor about being in the 
research program, testing them, and I did so.  Once I did this for about 60 
days, I was able to keep the digital player, permanently.  I have no idea 
why you were not invited to take part in the testing, or the qualifications 
they used to decide who to ask about participating in the program.  My 
understanding is, and anyone here can correct me if I'm wrong, that for the 
time being, veterans and those over 100 years old have a priority, unless 
you were one of the testers.  I am not sure how long this is meant to be, 
but at some point in the next couple of years, everyone else who is a 
library patron will be able to get one.
