Free Accessible Technology Luncheons

For your convenience, the following information is attached to this message. Please disseminate this information as widely as appropriate!

Technology is an important aspect of everyone's life! This is true of the blind and visually impaired, as well! Accessible technology allows the blind to participate in society and in the work place on terms of full equality with their sighted peers. The National Federation of the Blind is on the cutting edge of the technological revolution and wants to expose you to the latest and greatest technology!

On Saturday, September 12, Michael Koulouvaris of Florida Reading & Vision Technology will be the guest of the East Hillsborough Chapter of the NFB. Michael will introduce you to a variety of low & high tech items designed to increase productivity, help you become more competitive, and gain more independence. He will also share information about Serotek, a company that provides screen reading software, as well as exposure to an on-line community for the blind & visually impaired, including social networking and on demand descriptive video services.

On October 10, John Palmer of Magnifying America will be the guest of the East Hillsborough Chapter of the NFB. John will present an array of accessible technologies specifically designed to enhance access to information by the blind and visually impaired. Magnify America's products include desk top and portable screen reading and magnification software, the Victor Reader Stream, and the KNFB Reader, a multi-function camera phone that translates print into voice and includes a global positioning system!

These presentations will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon in the H2U Classroom of Brandon Hospital, located at 228 S. Moon Avenue. A free lunch will be provided for all participants. RSVPs are strongly suggested. You may RSVP by calling 813-626-2789 or via email to
