Accessibility Standards - September 2
Colleagues,
There may be some on this list who do not believe a free webinar on the regulatory changes to the ADA's public services (Title II) regs, the public accommodations
regs (Title III) and adoption of the revised 2004 ADAAG guideline as an ADA enforcement standard are not sufficiently related to blindness issues to be
posted on this list. I respectfully disagree. Our rights as blind persons are not self-enforcing. We must enforce our rights if they are to mean anything.
We must know what our rights are in order to enforce them.Chris Bell

Standards - September 2
On July 26 the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued new rules to update its ADA regulations and to implement new accessibility standards for facilities.
The U.S. Access Board and DOJ will conduct a free webinar on the updated regulations and standards on September 2, 2010 from 1:30 - 4:00 EDT. DOJ representatives
will highlight what is new in the revised title II and title III regulations, including requirements for existing facilities. Access Board staff will
review major changes in the new ADA standards which are based on accessibility guidelines established by the Board.
