I know John as well and He is a wonderful person! I will get in my files and
do just this. I am not sure, however, if the quote I received was oral or by
printed form. I'll check and get back with you and the list! Your friend in
the cause, KH

good morning Kirk,
To confirm the price of the SOLO, please post a copy of the quote that you
received from FRVT to the list serve. I, myself, checked with the
manufacturer of the SOLO and confirmed the cost with the largest dealer in
the US, John Palmer, and the price is currently $1,995 and an additional
$250 for the keypad. in my experience, any vender offering the SOLO or other
equipment at a significantly lower price is selling an out dated model or a
refirbage product. the current model is the SOLO with the software #1.10.
The latest SOLO model has up-graded speakers and plays music when it starts
up. The older model just beeps when starting up.

HTH,
Carolyn

>> dear friends,
>> just a note to tell you about some of the amazing products that i seen at
>> the ATIA conference yesterday.

>>
>> another amazing product was the new book sense from GW Micro. it cost

>> only
>> allows you to record and download books, it has a radio and gives you the

>> holds up to a 32 G SD card. it is definitely an item for your Christmas
>> list.
>> for low vision folks, GW Micro had a terrific portable video magnifier,
>> the
>> duel sense view with a price tag of $950. it has 2 cameras, one for
>> distance
>> and one for close-up reading. bill has been asking venders for a device
>> like
>> this for years. the distance camera enables a person to read street signs
>> and other print items in the distance like the price signs located high
>> up
>> in Costco. the second camera allows you to read price tags, grocery items
>> and other close up print items. it also has color and a freeze frame.
>> I was impressed with the quality of these products and their functions.
