"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out, and
loudly proclaiming --
WOW-- What a Ride!"

Subject: Thank Sec. LaHood for keeping public transportation accessible

Dear Dwight,
The 20th anniversary of the ADA is approaching, and Secretary Ray LaHood
has been a leader on accessible transportation.
_Will you send a thank-you note to Secretary LaHood?_
(http://www.easterseals.com/site/R?i=zmc4zcstIPlsGjFWBZ70Ow..)
Twenty years ago, most people who used wheelchairs couldn't board a city
bus.
Today, almost all city buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts – thanks
to the Americans with Disabilities Act and the efforts of people like Ray
LaHood, Secretary of Transportation.
Accessible transportation makes a real difference in the lives of people
with disabilities. But as cities struggle with budget shortfalls,
accessibility can suffer.
_Join us in thanking Secretary LaHood for fighting to keep accessible
transportation a priority._

On July 26, 1990, the ADA became the law of the land, ensuring that
people living with disabilities are able to be involved in their communities by
requiring equal access to employment, education, public transportation and
more.
Accessible transportation is a lifeline for people with and without
disabilities – giving them the chance to go to school, to work, to shop and to
vote – and helps keep communities livable and sustainable.
Laws like the ADA can change the lives of people with disabilities. But
laws alone aren't enough: Our leaders must carry out the spirit of the law,
and that's exactly what Secretary LaHood is doing.
_Send a message of thanks to Secretary LaHood, ahead of the ADA
anniversary on July 26, as he fights to make public transit accessible to
everyone._ (http://www.easterseals.com/site/R?i=4RXXmVLjgCb8eSY5k-GRZg..)
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Katy Beh Neas
