"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out, and
loudly proclaiming --
WOW-- What a Ride!"
That was Janet!

Dwight, please pass this on to the NFB of Florida List Serve. Thank
you. Joe

It is with great sadness I learned today of the passing of a true friend
and supporter of the National

Federation of the Blind, Janet Caron.

We were friends for 21 years and spoke on the telephone almost every day.
Janet was a great support

to me. She was my mentor and was the person who encouraged me to join the
National Federation of the

Blind in 1989. Both Janet and I served on the Advisory Board of Persons
With Disabilities to the Broward

County Commissioners for nearly 20 years. Janet and I did many fun things
 together including taking the

water taxi in Ft. Lauderdale out to the bay, having dinner and returning
in a cab to our homes. We each had

a little vision in those early years. It was a lot of fun. For a period
of time, Janet and I took dancing

lessons in Ft. Lauderdale; I can still remember calling my wife, Arlene,
and asking for permission to go to

the lessons; Arlene would just laugh and tell me to go.

Later on, the three of us would travel to the National Conventions
together, share meals to control expenses,

go to seminars and just enjoy each other's company. When the Palm Beach
Chapter of the National

Federation of the Blind needed a little boost, Janet and I became
president and vice-president. Before long,

David Evans got involved and he became President. Janet always supported
the Deaf-Blind Division and the

C.A.R.S. Division. We, in turn, supported her table at convention where
she sold her beautiful handmade

jewelry creations.

Janet's untimely death is not only sudden and unexpected, it is deeply sad
for us who loved her.

Dear Janet....we will miss you so much, but we know in our hearts you are
in a beautiful place with

all the beautiful things you loved in life. May you rest in God's peace.
    Joe Naulty
