[Nfbf-l] The Braille Monitor

Hi Judy,

I've pasted below the information from the Dec. 2009 Braille Monitor. It
probably explains why you and others stopped receiving it. I decided to
discontinue my Braille subscription and go with the email version. I know
that will come as a shock to some on this list grin! I admit I miss my
Braille copy, but know it's much more costly for NFB to produce. Anyway, I
hope this will be helpful to your chapter members and others who may be
experiencing the same problem.

Sherrill

 (from the Dec. 2009 Monitor)

Attention Braille, Large Print, and Cassette Monitor Readers:
In January 2010 we intend to clean up the Monitor database. If you wish to
continue to receive the Braille Monitor in large print or Braille or on
cassette, you must notify Marsha Dyer by email (mdyer at nfb.org). By phone
leave a message on the Braille Monitor line (410-659-9314, ext. 2344), or
mail (200 East Wells Street, Baltimore, Maryland
21230). Be sure to indicate which format you wish to receive.
Remember that you can receive each issue by email at the beginning of the
month
by signing up at <www.nfb.org>. Select "Publications" and then "Braille
Monitor." There you will see instructions for receiving the email edition.
From
that page you can also download individual articles or the entire Monitor in
text or MP3 format.

Subject: [Nfbf-l] The Braille Monitor

Dear Dan & Any Members Who May Be Able To Assist:

It has come to my attention and thanks to our chapter members, that we have
not been receiving The Braille Monitor since January, 2010. I am sure you
all can appreciate the fact that all of us get numerous cassettes and
information throughout the year. Sometimes things get misplaced, life
happens, etc. and you do not miss something until someone asks during a
group discussion.

One of our sighted members, who receives the Monitor in print, brought the
subject to my attention during a phone conference call a few weeks ago. She
had not been at her residence a lot and assumed it got lost in the general
mail somehow. Those participating in the conference call, also suffer from
information overload, and thought they had received it, but with the 2010
convention, figured we would get the convention highlights this month. One
of our members who receives the Monitor in Braille, also stated that she had
not received an issue in a long time. This started me on a search at my
house. I found that the last Monitor I received was the December, 2009
issue.

1. Has any member experienced interruptions in their subscription?

2. Has there been any communication regarding a change in the alternative
format to members receiving subscriptions?

3. Who do I contact in the national office? Barbara Pierce or the new
associate editor?

4. Who do I contact regarding a member's format preference change?

Thank you very much for your assistance.
Judy
