Hello all! I found this gentleman quite an inspiration for our cause! He has
accomplished much since he returned home from Nam. I would hope that all
blind individuals would watch this mans story from the Today show and their
interview of him! Your friend in the cause, Kirk

August 25, 2011
For all BVA membership and key contacts, last week at the BVA 66th
convention
Chuck Young from Hadley School for Blind exhibited and talked about the
programs
they offer and one of our BVA members was recently interviewed and a segment
on
NBC was aired on his story.
We have two exciting announcements to share. First, Hadley was featured this
morning on NC’s The Today Show. The piece, produced by Winnetka’s very own
Mike
Leonard, focuses on how Hadley helps individuals live independent lives. The
main subject is Urban Miyares, a blinded veteran and advocate and friend of
the
Hadley School, who has overcome many obstacles and achieved high levels of
success as an entrepreneur, a sportsman and a hands-on philanthropist who
helps
others who are disabled. The clip can be viewed here:

Secondly, after months of work, we have launched a newly redesigned Web site
at
www.hadley.edu with the goal of providing visitors with a more engaging and
user-friendly online experience while maintaining the site's accessibility.
We
hope that once you familiarize yourself with these recent changes, you will
find
our site easier to use. Your opinion is important to us. Please email us at
feedback at hadley.edu with any comments, questions or suggestions.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Chuck Young, President
The Hadley School for the Blind
Urban presented to the OIF and OEF veterans attending the convention an
overview
of starting a disabled small business and importance of participating in
various sports including his experience with Challenged America sailing and
racing as seen on the interview.
Thanks.
