Greetings Everyone,
 
Our Bill, HB 405, now has a Companion Bill in the Senate, SB 1192,
introduced by Senator Evelyn Lynn, that exactly mirrors the House Bill on
which we worked so diligently.  
 
I am attaching to this post the newly edited Position Paper that we
approved.  The edits include only references to the Senate Bill so that the
document can be used when contacting members of either House of the Florida
Legislature.
 
Rep. Dennis Baxley, Chair of the Vision Caucus, has signed on as a
co-sponsor in the House.  However, he seems reluctant to seek buy-in from
the members of the Vision Caucus.  His response is that the Bill will be
publicized during the Vision Summit.  Although this is indeed positive, it
is disappointing that the Chair of the Vision Caucus will not actively
assist with bringing the Vision Caucus on board with this vitally important
legislation.  As a result, we are sending the version of the Position Paper
attached to this post to the entire membership of the Vision Caucus.  
 
Should anyone raise issues regarding police enforcement issues or the data
collection imperative of this Bill, please tell them that we have support
for this legislation from the Chief of Police in Daytona.  If you could get
written support from any law enforcement official, that would be grand
indeed.
 
It is crucially important that members of the Florida Legislature begin
receiving calls in support of this legislation immediately.

passage of this legislation.  Please feel free to share this post with
members of your organizations.
