According to Florida Traffic Code (F.S.
316.1301), whenever a blind person, carrying
a white cane, or led by a guide dog, is crossing
a street, driveway, or any other place, all
traffic must come to a complete stop until the
person has safely crossed. Failure to yield
the right-of-way to a blind person is a moving
violation which may result in a fine of $90
and three points on your drivers license.

It’s The Law!
According to State and Federal Law (F.S. 413.08),
the blind and other disabled persons must be provided
with full and equal access to any place the public is
invited. This includes buses, planes, taxicabs,
restaurants, hospitals, and any other place or service
available to the public.
Additionally, the blind and disabled are permitted to
be accompanied by a service animal in any place the
public is invited, without having to pay an additional
fee for the animal.
Furthermore, the blind or disabled are allowed to
refuse any accomodation, aid, or service the person
wishes to refuse, such as special treatment or
alternative services.
Violation of this Statute is a second degree
misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500
and/or incarceration up to six months.
