[Nfbf-l] Question

Hi Everyone:

In Florida, Florida State University is the only university in Florida that
I am aware that has (or maybe had by now, due to budget cuts last spring)
an Orientation & Mobility instruction program for prospective vision
teachers or rehab counseling students interested in working with the blind
or visually impaired. I never heard about the outcome of the program. I
have had 3 O & M instructors over the years who were extremely
knowledgeable. Two were sighted, and one, who had partial vision, Eric
Hicks, trained at FSU and really had a great deal of knowledge. Eric spoke
at one of our NFB chapter meetings a few years ago and told us about the
FSU program he trained under. Gainesville's loss is Ohio's gain, because
he has since left our state.

Louisiana Tech also has a great O & M instruction program based on some of
the speakers who have been invited to the NFB state conventions. Great
going for the Parents Division!
