TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --Lawmakers are taking steps to take down the cameras that have been placed at intersections across Florida.

A House committee has approved a bill to put a stop to state's red-light camera law.

 

Central Florida communities like Winter Park, Orlando, Orange County and Apopka already use red-light cameras. Other cities are working to add them to intersections across the area.

 

Supporters of the cameras claim they save lives and make streets safer.

 

The cameras have prompted plenty protests too. Opponents call them an invasion of privacy and some say they do not make roads safer.
