Gloria, I think this is a wonderful idea! I have been asking since I came
into the NFBF 15 years ago why do we have it on this weekend when the prices
are high for hotels in this time of year, as well as the family, picnic, and
memorial ccelebrations are so darn distracting to our convention to feel
the rooms. I believe if we did change it to a winter date, we would resolve
many issues that are now so challenging to us! Hotel rates, members not
being conflicted bbetween missing family and cook outs and city and county
celebrations or go to our convention and discuss a serious agenda of needs.
I know we would get more membership participation if we did what you
suggest, plus much more that would be to our advantage! Kirk

Subject: [Nfbf-l] Changing the Dates of the Convention
Hi everyone,
There is a lot of passion in the Nfbf so much that I will broach another
subject which I am sure will bring out differences of opinions. On like
other thing this does not mean changing the Constitution, just a simple
vote.. I would like to see us change the dates of the state convention to
sometime in the winter. For the next five years the national convention will
take place in Florida. I believe that many Floridians will want to visit
that convention in July. It will make easier for us to change the weekend
that we have ours and also to raise the money to go to more than one. I
recommend the weekend that has Martin L King as a holiday on Monday. We
could also commemorate King as we do now with Memorial Day. What do you all
think.
